old man

by Artur Desruisseaux

I've been drinking

but I don't have an audience

no woman or women knocking on my door

late at night

told them all to go to hell

this time they listened

I've been drinking

but I don't have an audience

just a middle aged man with

my face in the mirror

smoking a cigarette wanting to die

I never wanted this

but

but

butt

such a stupid poem

late at night

I watched my teens 20's & 30's

go down the toilet

what a waste

I never tried

I never cared

why does death take this long?

I've had two flat tires

a smashed out window

and a dent 3 feet long

down the side of my mint chip 2002 Nissan altima

all this month

poor car

it belonged to my dead grandfather

a WWll vet who bombed most of Germany

I still wear his pancake hat and oversized sunglasses

while I drive

92 years old

and still alive

I like this one. You tagged me in it, lines 13, 14, 15. "But. But. Butt." Thanks, Artur D-2, Tag! You're it!
