October 8 - A cup of tea

I drink my tea too fast,
while it's still too hot
to appreciate, before it's
ready.

Two-thirds of a cup later,
I stop myself and let it sit
on the leaves until it's dark,
cold and bitter.

In this situation, I am the one
who dumps the tea.

But no metaphor is perfect.
