A Life Full of Depth

by Jeffrey Parren

I've found
that a core few
is doing life justice.

Why is it
that we cannot be
promiscuous
in friendships
and experiences?

I'm not alluding
to sexuality and indulgence.

Is it too hard
to be deep and meaningful
to too many people?

I suppose the intimate nature
of deep and purposeful
connections
are to be limited by definition.

Could you imagine a world
where every moment of life
was monumental?

A life full of depth
and meaning?

If it were all glorious
then the content
would be lost.

Is it better
to be full of substance
thereby losing perceivable depth,
or is it advantageous
that a large portion of life
is without importance
and worth; therefore,
when there is greatness
it slaps you in the face?
