A Favor by Jeffrey ParrenSpeak to me,
oh desires,
for you've left me.
From a motto of
“what do I get to do first”
to now
“what am I gonna do?”
Youth afforded me interests
and those are the things I did.
Basketball,
riding my bike
up and down our long driveway,
whiffle ball, tennis, etc
were an every day indulgence
of youthful exuberance.
These days it seems
like waking up is the chore
and the rest follows
in the wake
of a mind frozen
by circular thoughts
ruining action.
I'm tired before I even start.
As my frustrations mount
so bigger do the walls get.
Keeping me boxed into
inactivity and fruitless days
my anguish grows.
Confidence and dreams
are a figment of the past.
Dreams and hopes
the vanishing commodities.
Do yourselves a favor:
get up and go
before
it gets up and leaves. 09/02/2012 Posted on 09/02/2012 Copyright © 2024 Jeffrey Parren
