handball

by Peter Humphreys

she reminded me
of someone I had known
but she was
older young

her face etched
by pain grief smoke
she unleashed
a return
with such venom
no man could hold

she did not smile
her face unchanged
but her eyes could kill
as her hope
had been
in life

Some people have that kind of concentration. I'm afraid I lost mine a long time ago and just realized it. Nice write.
