6. Grounded

by Julie Adams

emotions flurry, falling, and flying
like cherry blossoms in a spring wind

sometimes dancing in the sunlight of laughter,
or weeping in the shade of fear

this airy current sways me, leaves
me dizzy in my own head

but the swell of my belly grounds me

the gift I hold inside calms me
into placid humility, time and again

now I must be the sturdy tree
and my seed, the blossom to be

This certainly sounds like motherhood to me. Congratulations. My daughter had 30 just had her first the middle of March. She was nervous at first but has turned into quite a little mother.
