exile by Peter Hsuin the rough lavender night
i fill my mouth with spite
that bitter residue
seeping from my yellow reflection
and flavoring the dying summer
because after your war
my body is an unfamiliar country
where escape is an impossibility
and every direction i turn
leads to exile
so i’ll cast myself out
and head into the north
far from my treacherous heart
away from the season of your name
to set my mind aflame
a funeral pyre
to light the remains of the year 08/19/2012 Author's Note: exile/vilify
