Touch the house (dare)

by Johnny Crimson

Lying on the subway tracks
trying to catch the midnight back
forgetting to stand up,relax.
There's safety in denial.

Waiting by a bench there are
children in a cattle car
trading plastic swords for scars,
while their mother texts her "friends."

Reading all the paper’s blues
a headline in the daily news
leaves ink stains on his favorite suit.
“Korea drops the bomb.”

The candles always crying wax
sliding downward to get back
to that place where they could just relax
no one setting them on fire.

I’m climbing up the mountain tops
where your sister likes to sleep a lot
maybe she’ll leave the door unlocked,
and I can reconnect her bones.

Wow. This is heavy. That second stanza is a real attention getter. Very vividly written and so well done I could just see it. Great writing man. Couldn't quite figure out the mountain top with reconnecting bones though. Whadda I know anyway. Still very much enjoyed it.
