Night

by George Hoerner

the sun takes
the night off
and lets the moon have
the playground in the sky
which expands to hear night’s tune

little lights like stars
turn on one by one
lighting paths to be taken
by cars on the way to bars
where we try
to drink away
our fears or
bury tears

That habitual bit of navigation can be dangerous, with no trouble arriving, but later one may not know which to chose to watch for the way home. I'll stay home....with the moon! Thanks.
