Drink It Black by Steven Craig
I see a cup of coffee and I want to drink it black
No colors in my coffee anymore I want them to turn black
I see the girls serving coffee pouring milk and cream as they go
I have to turn my cup upside down until my darkness goes
I see the coffee brewing and I want to drink black
No sugar, no cream, both never to come back
I see people turn their heads and quickly look away
The coffee must be taken black, black, black every day
I look inside myself and see my coffee is black
I see my cup of Joe and it has been swallowed black
Maybe then I'll fade away and not have to face the facts
It's not easy facing the world when your coffee is not taken black
No more will it stain my coffee tan, I want it black
I could not foresee coffee taken in any other way
If I look hard enough into the setting sun
My coffee will be black until the morning comes
I see my java served and I want it taken black
No colors anymore I want my coffee black
I see the waitress walk by dressed in their milk stained clothes
I have to drink my coffee black until my darkness goes
The coffee is black, black, black, even the steam is black
Freedom is coffee taken black, black, black.
There is no love on earth if coffee is not black
No expresso, no latte, straight black black black.
I wanna see it poured black, taken black, dripping black
Black as night, black as coal, black as the dream must be
I wanna see the milk and cream blotted out from the sky
I wanna see coffee ads painted, painted, painted, painted black
Yeah
Check please....
