Lost Decade

by Richard Vince

Those were dark times:
Rendered in black and white
They are still blue.

The sky was empty,
Forlorn without the old clouds,
Denuded by progress.

The same lives were lived,
But something was missing;
The sky was empty,
The world hushed.

Then came the spark,
The hum of renewal
Buzzing across the sky
Along wires newly stretched.

The sky was filled anew,
Revitalised, redrawn.
A new sound dismissed
The darkness;
The light returned.
