soon to be tossed into the river of time by Tom Goss1. the flow of trees
root
muscled root
hardened to nature's
reign
water usurper
bark-covered veins
chlorophyll for blood
drinking energy
from a late evening
sky
from a late evening
sky
I am here
alone
time's star witness
eyes entombed in this skull
which holds me like a stone
holds me like stone
2. the silence of the leaves
I watch her undress
like fall's
crumpled caress
3. I heard a song on the wind
I stole
the light
of the Milky Way
kept its E=MC2
in my mind
for I am greedy
for the universe
though her heartbreaking
bruises
are plentiful
bounteous
and she crushes my soul to dust
to dust
