Some Sembalance Of Hope
by Jersey D GibsonWhen the line has grown old
too many times has it been repeated.
Like a pariah brought back to the fold
all of your chances have been depleted.
I just wanted you to know
that we're on to you; yes, we're on to you.
The back story wasn't convincing
you're just another forgery.
We're here, left in the dark
and your flashlight's black; oh, so black.
Driveled words that make no sense
did we need you at all?
The person you convinced best was yourself
stepping on us for the pedestal; climb on us for that pedestal.
Don't mind the toes that you've stepped on
we're just a means to an end.
Last night, did you look in the mirror
what kind of reflection did you see?
Too bad sin doesn't stain glass
your's would have been a mosaic too horrible to behold.
Slinging mud at your opponents
and your hands are dirty; oh, they're so dirty.
Project the image of winning confidence
fills us with dread.
When you heard the crys, did you mistake them for cheers
you had the best intentions; but they were just bad intentions.
Grind us down into obediance
it's sad that we comply.
Your timetable didn't include us
you promised us hope; some sembalance of hope.
Now that you're done, we're left in the dust
did you even look back?
