2nd Communion

by Johnny Crimson

When supper had ended
she shook the cup
and screamed to her disciples:
"This is the rot of the Earth,
through every crevice and crust in this land
lye's the tyranny of simple beasts."

She rolled her tongue behind her lips
and with the froth of the apostles
building around their mouths she spoke again:

"Take from this and drink it,
for this is the sap that bonds tree to bark,
and whore to the world, the salamander to the sieve,
and all bonds throughout.

Do this in memory of me."

Mischievously grinning Brutus,
the lame apostle of Antioch,
cursed her very name and when it was his turn
to drink, he threw the cup.
Spilling the rot of the Earth onto the floor.

She stood quiet for what seemed like centuries
as the other apostles cursed the very name of Brutus.
Speaking without making a sound she announced:

"For Brutus has done wisely what none of you
could grasp. To incite disruption to ritual, to disturb
the myth of community, to instill change in the texts.
For nothing shall stand on the backs of me alone."

With these closing remarks she knelt down
in the nude and became one with the floor forever.

Brutus went on to lead the rest.
For they worshiped him as their savior.

Supposedly his mother was a virgin.

Ah Johnny, let me serve you this finger and a glass of my blood and I shall save you forever from this world.

I really like this world you're exploring. I love the Biblical undertones and the way you've made the scene your own. There's no question in your work. It either is or it isn't, and with you, it clearly is.
