Listen 1

by George Hoerner

oh if i could just
be quiet and listen
to the time
as it passes

from the then
thru the now
to the there
of the next moment

but for the beginning
and the ending
there is the appearance
of continuity of existence

like the ocean unfurling its waves
and slowly bringing them to crest
which caves in upon itself
only to recoil as if it
has reached its goal
and must return again
to the ocean for rebirth

but the only sound
i hear is the tic
and the toc
and nothing
in between

and soon
nothing after

Sounds like your soul is aching for some good, old fashioned meditation, where you still the mind, and allow what comes, whatever comes. :))) What effective images I got while I was reading this! Thanks, George!!

"Si sólo pudiera conversar con aquel tiempo que se fue de mis manos, si este me hablara sin pasar de largo". Tu poema, George, me ha dejado personalmente esta reflexión. Saludos "If I could just only converse with the time that was in my hands, if this time speak to me without spending long". Your poem, George, has personally left me this reflection. Best regards

oh I know this feeling too well...and you capture it perfectly...but it's so much more than words you've captured here...
