Fractals are the fingerprint of God

by Vikki Owens

I see repeating patterns and have started to understand what they mean.
The theory forms slowly,
gleaning its truth is like watching random images flash at high speed across a screen.
the answer is in the structures of the universe, galaxies, nerve rings in my iris, the golden ratio, a nautilus shell.
the answer is a subliminal truth we all know. its primary language is math. its presence is felt in the absolute rules of nature, physics...we are all trying to condense this truth into understanding.
Scientists see this truth as facts, observation, repeatable data...they note the solid evidence, they try to understand reality. the scaffolding of why and how. the cause and effect.
Religion is another truth. Not ONE religion but ALL religions. Religion is the personal interpretation of the emotions of the universe. We all feel the truth...there is Something. Something bigger. Some connection that needs to be made...that tug of the hearts of those who have not found God. It is a human need as humanity, to find the meaning, the greater being.
Psychology helps us understand that need. We know now that much in life registers subliminally, becomes our unconscious truth. And therein lies the key.
Perhaps the mind understands more than we think. we see the patterns, the fractals, the mathmatics, the logic, the physics are seen and understood in all things...the patterns from the atomic level to the vastness of infinite space...we are seeing this continuity...its there in the conceptual and untapped, nearly unreachable corners of our mind. our mind understands this as intelligent design...it knows in an instinctual way that there is reason and shape to all of reality...and a connectivity to all things, an enmeshment of every shape, every speck, every atom...we are all made of stars. and all the stars are inside me. the IS an ultimate truth to reality. that understanding that is so shrouded from our consciousness...still it speaks to us. We have put a name to it throughout history...Christianity, Buddhism.. so many varied beliefs that are all essentially the same. Even in that, there are patterns and truths that apply across the spectrum. The concept of GOOD and EVIL, Life beyond this reality, Greater meaning, Guidance from something Higher, Positive Energies, Prayer...an Immutable Truth. ...Religion in all its varied ideas...they are all ways to explain this feeling in the seat of your soul, that though you are just a small thing in this life, your life is intended, needed, purposeful, connected to those around you, to those on this planet, and to this reality. We are all essentially just energy, and energy is neither created nor destroyed.
Matter, Dark Matter, Energy, Dark energy. This is a truth you see repeated as well. The struggle of positive and negative, order and chaos. God, Satan. Love and hate. all of creation is a binary struggle of existance, destruction, chance and intention.
Perhaps God is not who they say he is. 'i am the alpha and omega, the beginning and the end. i am the light, the way, abideth in me'. we think of these statements in the only way we can...we imagine that god speaks to us with a mouth, that he sits on a throne somewhere...but this has limited our concept and clouded our understanding. he is everything. everywhere. omnipotent, omnipresent...not like a ghost, not a spirit...ALL things, you, me, god IS science, god IS the atom, god IS the tree, the grass, the core of the earth, the elements of life, the spark, magnetism, gravity, inertia...and his fingerprint is fractals. the patterns. the web of reality. his truth is the golden rule, the beatitudes, the inherent truths that we know as 'the good parts' of all religion. the common sense of love and kindess and understanding that even though we are very small on a world that is very small, in a galaxy that is very large in a universe that is incomprehensibly vast, we are part of it, made from it, return to it, and go on from it. we affect more than just ourself, more than just the people who know us...we are a creation of god, a part of god, and a way for god to know itself.

Author's Note: i have not completely formed this theory. this is an attempt to understand something that feels like its all around me and yet so vague its almost impossible to grasp. it my a struggle within myself to reconcile my firm scientific nature, my need for proof, my lack of spirituality, and my longing to find that meaning that the religious seem to have. it comes from an intense sadness at feeling disconnected and searching for SOMETHING and also understanding why i feel that need emotionally, and why others feel that need.

A very intriguing theory. As someone who grew up Christian and later became interested in space/science, I've struggle with this myself. Science and religion are two opposite forces, according to most people from the two groups. Science requires proof, and religion requires faith. One might think the two cannot mix, but to think god IS science, rather than god vs. science could unify the two. I suspect I'll be thinking about this for a while.

OMGosh, a woman after my own fractal'd heart! I share many of the same observations about life and fractals, and I'm ALWAYS amazed at what turns up when I'm manipulating them on the grid. Have you made some of your own, are do you just admire the ones you find? We should get our fractals together and have a party!!!
