lethe

by Peter Hsu

the summer night
recognizes each of my bones
afloat
on the dreaming face of the sound
that macabre raft
i leave behind

swinging from the chandelier of the moon
i forget gravity
and fill the evening sky
to write amnesia on each star

weightless
my flesh drifts on careless winds
oblivious
while below
my skeleton grasps tendinous strings
reaching upward
pulling against the midnight tide
