There is Someone Deeper than Dark

by JJ Johnson

Deeper than the flesh
Deeper than dark blood
At depths where even bone feels alone
Where secrets go to remain unknown
Existing between the heart and the light
Trapped beneath the gravity of life
That swollows hope and spits out love
That leaves a twisted sense of direction
Confusing your face with no reflection
Futile attemps to cut through stained wood
To the portal keeping you from womanhood
No virgin blood will lubricate a path love does not illuminate
Far deeper than the swords of molesters penetrate
Deeper, dig deeper to where razors cannot slice
There is somewhere you have always been
Deeper than doctors and poets have seen
In you there is someone waiting to break free
From behind the eyes afraid to see
The shortest distance between here and there
Is the step untaken to nowhere
Through a doorway you're holding the key for
Holding in a past that isn't needed anymore
There is nowhere for the one you lost to run and hide
There is somewhere deeper to release the pain still loose inside
