Side A

by Jolie Jordan

The lip of my bottle is wet
on my cold mouth
I swallow
and you are sleep.

We are apart today.
but we both make our words hurt eachother
I think I'm winning.

Tell your mother I said Hi,
and sorry about her husband.

The TV drowns me out
but
I'm not saying anything.

Just tell me there's a future,
because there's definitely a past.
and rehashing gets old, fast.

Being an adult means realizing
better
when it's worth it
and when you're wasting your time.

Author's Note: Side A to Side B. ( I wrote these both within minutes of eachother, not meaning them to match and realizing that they do, so well. )
