i would forget you

by Emily Davidson

i would forget you
it's really in my best interest
but you come to me in
poignancy and truth
make me rumble
pull me, trip me
over myself
there you are

i would forget you
to rescue
myself
my own clark kent or
wonder woman
but instead i am stuck in the
glue of you
your memory
your infectious glance

i would forget you
almost as soon as i'd beg you
to remember
the uniqueness of our sweetness
and ask
for a chance
at a future
half as bright
as the past
