my ingestion of you

by Jennifer Truesdale

you fill me
like yellow.
friendly caresses
to pass the time,
before the second hand
rushes toward us,
sweeps you away and
leaves my bed
too big, so empty.

I think about collapsing,
all the room I have
to throw myself around
like wild crazy.
committed.
I thought that was what we swore,
at least that's what flavor our words were
in vow,
in red, purple, green, yellow, blue, orange.
in symphony.
but, now
the strings all become stitches
and play me a collision
of heartache and tearwells.

I still think about collapsing.
