War Is The Absence Of Peace; Peace Is Not The Absence Of War

by Jersey D Gibson

Through the smoke and the haze
and the sweat and the days
I finally lost the answer to it all.

Too many things have gone by
it seems senseless to try
set myself up for the crash and the fall.

Learned a little too late
but blame it all on fate
watch me as I drop the ball.

I've been speeding too fast
not much but a big blurred past
living with my back against the wall.

And I've said this one too many...

I've got your name
I've got your number
I've got your final solution.

It's a simple why
why its your turn to die
the rest is just idle pollution.

Yes I've stepped on the cracks
but I still got your back
sooner or later, time will tell.

Bogged me with your words
was that all that you heard
just ignored your own tolling bell?

A life lived too fast
destined not to last
but all you did was wish well.

Grab it with both hands
time to make a stand
are they buying what you had to sell?

And I've done this one too many...

I've got you covered
I've got your back
you're just the one leading the charge.

Like an uphill race
you won in last place
quit parading like you were the star.

You've brought this upon your...
And you've done this to your...
It's all because you went and...

You talk a big game
but couldn't stay in your lane
you were the cause of the scene of the crash.

You brought big hits
but you weren't on the invitation list
you were missing when we went to the final bash.

Quite a write and I suspect that for most major and even minor wars, those who took the first step were not there for the last. And those who finished the thing have no idea why it ever started. Nice write sir!
