salt tears

by Mary Frances Spencer

exit eyes
drum heavy streams
drag stormy
draw grey

somehow release those trapped
emotional birds

a few stray
feathers
float
thoughts
memories

and softly drift
away
flutter down

fade and exhale
not needed
for this
flight

Author's Note: Kind of in a sad mood...not normal for me...but tis what it is...trying to let the heaviness go away as I exhale and write... MFS

Sometimes it stays with us for a while. You express it so well. My wife just makes me take my 'happy pill'. Let me see you smile!!

I've always thought that there is some significance to the fact that our tears are salty. I haven't cried in what feels like a long time. But from what I hear, these are emotional times. Nice to read you again, too!!

Writing great pieces like this will likely help a lot.
