If you happen to be someone
who’s easily confused
then it shouldn’t surprise you
shouldn’t shock and amaze you
to discover it’s all meaningless
nonsense pulled from a deranged
fantasy of a twisted, disturbed
mind; this thing called life.
You sputter and spout denials -
a leaky faucet turned high;
quoting scripture, philosophy,
mathematics as proof you exist.
It seems inescapable, this
unwarranted assumption of evidence
that has been or must be found
of this thing called life.
I move by where you have paused
in your path; pained and disoriented.
Your surroundings are familiar,
but you remain stationary, thus
your direction is uncertain.
A brief interaction causes ambiguity
in both our interpretations
of this thing called life.
