while your blinker is on
for the past seven miles
driving by yourself

while talking on your cell phone
drinking your five dollar coffee
from a franchise coffee shop
made by college students and hippies
who like to think they're "in"
they know what's real
with their tattooes and pony tails
going to tea party meetings
griping about what's wrong with the world
and refusing to vote
for the lesser of dumb evils
whose advertisements were bought by friends and lackeys
with degrees with more acronyms than a government component
who believe it's their fingers on the pulse of America
while being lobbied by interests groups
bribed by Big Tobacco and Anhuiser-Busch
gotta get those contracts in
shiny and labeled on your tablets and iPhones
I think they got an app for that
because they got an app for everything
just YouTube'd your downward spiral life
and Twittered it all over the 'net
it's gone viral now; you're all viral
everyone is watching your self-destruction
because it pays more than self-enlightenment
we're all enlightened now at the speed of an electron
wi-fi'ed and broadband for the entire world to see
like a wardrobe malfunction;
we're all malfunctioned, you know, in a way
a post-whatever generation surviving on the dregs
of the last generation we ran letters for
breaking the backs of all those we tried to stand over
pardon me as I use you as a stepping stone
because we're getting dumber all the time
all this time we've been spoon-fed democracy
and freedoms through our HD television sets

the blood, the gore, the war;
we are all soldiers to our own demise
and we are all winning.
