learning to say yes

by Cassandra Leigh

Some people are born saying
NO. They spend their lives learning more
words; by the time they
know enough they need
another lifetime
to write a story.

The measure of an adventurous
spirit is not
experiences that make good
dinner conversation, but
the step forward into
open air, the realization
that even falling
is just like flying
with fewer degrees of
freedom.

I was born with
a full arsenal of YES,
always stepping
forward in leaps and
bounds with
reckless abandon, diving into
endless becoming.

We live only once.
But if you do it right,
once is enough.

So, so true. Nicely written. It's nice to hear about a life well lived!

You were fortunate since the first word most infants hear from their parents is 'No!'. Nice write and much truth here.
