Heaven Hands Help Earthward

by Jersey D Gibson

The sky clouds only on rainy days,
sunlight breaks it up and follows.
Shadows cast out a smokey grey,
raindrops fills puddles in ground hollows.

And I told you that I'd come...
so I told you that I'd come...

Summer breeze makes me feel nice,
heat waves shimmer, providing a different view.
It's so hot, I'd had to wipe my brow twice,
a cool glass of water right on cue.

And I said that I'd be there...
so I said that I'd be there...

While candles cry upwards,
heaven falls downwards,
only good things come to those who try.

Like the turning of the season,
or a nice act without reason,
sorrow isn't the only thing that can make me cry.

Snows come and go, like the winter blow,
it's too cold to go out at night.
In here it's so warm, the fire's all aglow,
add an extra blanket to make things alright.

Did I tell you that I missed you...
so I tell you that I missed you...

Another day passes, sometimes time stands still,
every moment we spend, we spend with each other.
Another snapshot in the old family album that you fill,
you struck me out with your eyes; I won't recover.

Have I really been gone so long...
so I really been gone so long...

While candles cry upwards,
heaven falls downwards,
only good things come to those who try.

Like the turning of the season,
or a nice act without reason,
sorrow isn't the only thing that can make me cry.
