carrying on amid mutual friendships.
Your laughter is birdsong in my ears
even if it's direction
isn't for me.
How long can we pretend
this daily grind
is a fairytale?
I remove your shoes as you lie
passed out on the couch,
the black leather stuck to your face.
the rise and fall of your chest
is heavy. my heart feels the same.
I think the thing that scares me the most
is that time is up;
and trying again
never works the fifth or sixth time.

I don't know if "effortlessly deliberate" makes sense to anyone but me as a descriptor for this piece, but anyway I loved it. It reminds me of how I write. Thanks for sharing |
