turpentine

by Cassandra Leigh

I am painted in
more colors than i
have names for, and
lately it has been raining
turpentine.

it is a kind of
high-resolution
failure
to live in
shades of gray,
but I am tired of playing
missionary
to people wearing shades
at night.

Sometimes wearing all your
art on the outside
is like handing someone a red
rose and watching him
shove it down the
Disposall.
