hat shop by Emily Davidsondusty and dim
shelves to the ceiling
fedoras and baseball caps
a step into
a past more vivid
than the present
we try them on;
some make us sophisticated
others make us silly
in two matching
black top hats
we are unstoppable
but we are only playing dress up 03/04/2012 Posted on 03/04/2012 Copyright © 2025 Emily Davidson

Posted by George Hoerner on 03/05/12 at 12:33 AM Cute! I recall many years ago a class I took and the instructor said at that time no one had done a thesis paper on hats and what it does to those who ware them. I don’t know if that has been done yet. Obviously certain hats denote authority, like a policeman’s hat, or a soldiers, but then there are many different types of hats. Again cute write! |

Posted by V. Blake on 03/05/12 at 02:44 AM "a step into
a past more vivid
than the present" This whole poem was awesome, but these three lines right here are PERFECT. They are like a thousand poems condensed into ten words. I am so jealous of you for thinking to put them in that order. |
