Season of Rainbows

by Alison McKenzie

My eyes open
Every day
To the same
Miraculous rainbows;
A repetition for which
I am barely able to express
My gratitude.

I thank our guides,
Our Universe,
The gods,
And any other entities
Within the hearing distance
Of our radiant souls.

For what we label “Us”, is,
Such a simple thing,
Really,
Still indescribable
Given the complexities
Of the English language.

Yet this love,
This extraordinary climax
That takes places
A billion times daily –
Well,
I will continue
To grasp this majesty
In the midst of our embrace -
To share it with my world,
Until there is no more breath.
