have i forgotten the things i once
believed in, the reasons i stayed in
our backyard when it was raining?

have i forgotten what it means
to feel a completeness without anyone around?

have you lost so much of yourself
in the things you write, the things
you photograph, the things you read,
that you no longer believe anything is real?
