Golden Beauty (v2)

by David Neubauer

For thy golden beauty, I have
long waited in the background.
Yearning to catch a glimpse, to catch
a glimmer of hope, sun-spun hair,
a smile, or a stray drifting laugh.

In my head, I dream
out conversations
where I leave the muted shadows;
Ask you to coffee,
to hold me, and never
let go,
marry me.
But
you have never yet said "Yes."

So please, if
it be your pleasure, just be who you are,
that golden beauty,
..... bringing a gleam into a life of
...........tarnished silver.
