Hunsaker-Hawkes

by Leonard M Hawkes

Fragments and remnants
(We who still bide time),
Joined by blood,
Bound by common memory,
Gather on a Winter's day
To celebrate Life:

The old folks,
That small white house
On North First West,
Siblings, cousins, Pocatello
Connections, even
Well-loved neighbors--

Disperse now, dwindle
Down to even beyond
The edgy fragments:
Remnant reminiscences
Poised to finally disengage
Themselves forever.

A somber, sober and richly-textured scene. Unforgettable to the reader.
