STRAWBERRY BLUE by Steven Kenworthy
i’ve wanted this too long to let go
without holding on forever so
steady goes the beat
we are peach ink romantic sheets
we float at the pace of the sea and go through the motions
ocean oceans.
poison lullabies
my ears drink too much every single night
sing me spells
sing me spells that tell me
“i am yours now”
“i am yours”
“take care of this body, i am your own private island”
your perfect shores teeth march to the beat
we are stitched into each other’s lives
we will rip each other apart
we will put each other back together
needle to skin we scream electricity
“i am yours now”
“i am yours”
“take care of this body, i am the gentle magician”
you are my sewing machine book of hymns do not rust
do not dance in the water,
we drink the potion,
we hold hands and talk until we fall
asleep
i need you so much,
i need you so much.

Posted by Scott Utley on 02/20/12 at 06:29 PM This is a rare - astounding work of art - it is a God-shot; an eye-opening jolt - it reminds us that this life is sacred, that "we are the body electric" ... praise the body and feed the soul -I see this clearly in your words ... love love with total abandon - and your title,(which drew me to read your poem) made my mind water with memories of beautiful things and people and places ... thank you .... |
