Fear Is Hiding

by Jersey D Gibson

When you run from your fear, you run from yourself

The darkened place in the back of my mind
my saftey net.
When the screaming's done, that's what I'll find
it's a safe bet.
When you try to find out what lies behind
I'll go there to stay.
Don't pity me, I can't stand it when you are kind
I'm missing everyday.

When you run from your fear, you run from your...
Everyday is a new kind of misery
like a war with invisible bombs
nothing to keep me holding together
fear is hiding inside of me.

Get up from the floor, why do I bother to try
I get knocked down.
before I learned to walk, I would run and hide
get beaten around.
When you speak with your fist, I live in fear
all too well.
Your mouth is filled with words I don't want to hear
just call it hell.

When you run from your fear, you run from your...
Every bruise is another mark you made
are you proud of what I am today
empty inside just a husk a breathing shell
fear is hiding inside of me.

When you look back
when the night is late
do you look back
at the child you made?

Does it keep you up
when you're lying in bed
with a gun in my hand
pointed right at your head?

When you run from your fear, you run from your...
I was seen but I was never heard
now I went and got in the final word
pull the hammer and take out my revenge
fear is no longer hiding inside of me.

Are you proud of the monster you have made?

Author's Note: Somewhat ripped and torn from Korn's "Fear is a place to hide" that I heard once several months ago. I loved the title, and worked on it.
