Wrong Time

by Jeffrey Parren

Remember that love story
that played out
over the big screen
or the smaller one
in the comforts
of your own home?

Yeah.

That's where they
only happen.

Immersed in the dream
that plays out
with perfect dialogue
and hearts fluttering
so innocently
your heart beats with theirs.

In this digital age
where finding the best match
is a simple profile away
and mouse clicks
with keystroke flicks
the subtle brush
of fingertips
upon the face
of your interest
is against the computer screen.

I often think
I was born in the wrong time.

I'm not classic
but prefer the intricacies
of the courtship.

Everything happens too fast
I feel like Brooks from
The Shawshank Redemption.

“The world went and
got itself in a big damn hurry.”

Even love isn't safe.

A lot to relate to in this, and that draws from your formidable strength as a storyteller. Well done.

But if you take time for 'real love' just think of all the things you will miss. Who is sleeping with who, what is the lastest must read book, what clothes are in or out, etc. Of course all this is available in a flash on twitster. I'm with you on this one.
