Atoms on the Wind, a Sigh

by Paganini Jones

I am atoms on the wind, a sigh at midnight

I wonder at stardust, at motes dancing at noon
I hear songs of the spheres, the long tolling thunder
I see sunrise and sunset, brave scattered stars
I want morning dew, cool lilies, a brief smile

I am atoms on the wind, a sigh at midnight

I pretend there are spirits and ghoulies and ghosts
I feel darkness in corners beneath your bed
I touch your hair, air behind you, the edge of your mind
I worry cats tails, dogs whiskers, a feather
I cry around chimneys and drifting sleep

I am atoms on the wind, a sigh at midnight

I understand the spaces 'twixt planets and thought
I say secrets in the whirlwind but nothing at all
I dream colour and music-filled perfume of angels
I try everything endlessly, unattainably searching
I hope for a gathering solidity, liquify

I am atoms on the wind, a sigh at midnight
