Searching for God in a Meditation Room

by Nicole D Gregory

I haven't dared actually
walk in there yet

It's not a journey I care
to go on by myself

It's not like I'm afraid
of the dark
and you shouldn't be either
with your perfect jaw line
and shoulders
those brooding eyes

I would light some candles
and lock the door
~ heaven forbid
the devil try and enter ~

You could choose to forgive
me for what I was about
to do
or
... and I think I might
just have it right ...

Your search for God
could begin
somewhere among
the celestial bodies
of me and you

A sacrifice of skin
and the desire
to do good

I've done a bit of
meditating on what
I would do
it's not really wholesome

God knows
I try to do good

Then He created you
and He knows
I'm a sinner
but
I'm willing to go
searching for God
in a Meditation Room
with you

Underneath the spectacle you create is the carnal desire and human persona of the speaker. I'd say she is in need of someone to love out loud in public, unless this pining thing that is going on is part of a preamble...a dramatic irony only to come with a thud, a hammer...an action. (or actions as I believe the speaker leads me to suppose)
