Dreams and Slopes by Jeffrey ParrenAm I dreaming?
The silence
the stares
they're absentee glares.
Falling asleep
with open eyes
I'm launched
into another space.
That's better.
My biggest fear
is I'll be dreaming
when the dream
is happening.
Am I living
the dream now?
Life's valleys
and plateaus alike
are dream's nemeses.
Life's a big ski slope.
Been riding this downhill
quite long enough.
Time to hop the lift
starting a new dream scape.
Dreams and slopes.
I was never a good skier. 12/28/2011 Posted on 12/28/2011 Copyright © 2024 Jeffrey Parren

Posted by Jody Pratt on 12/28/11 at 06:35 PM I feel I can interpret this poem in at least a couple ways. Although it is written to be positive and inspiring, I could also see it as an expression of "dreams going downhill." Thank you for the positive ending of hopping back on the lift. |
