In The Air

by Lucia Haselhorst

In The Air

Madam Arctic begins her sweep across the quiet land.
With her cupped hands and thin pursed lips, she blows.
In her breath there is compassion, benevolence, understanding.
It blankets us delicately.

As she travels, she forces her presence upon us.
Breaching our homes and filling us up with yuletide.
Our hearts swell with all that is good.
So we begin to give with absolute.

She helps carry his message that was brought forth from long ago.
It’s easy to lose sight of it.
I know!

But with her coming each year signals a reminder.
It is a time when the world seems close to perfect.
If only it was true for a moment.
Nonetheless, find it, within you.
