Uncommon Considerations by Alison McKenzieWhen is the value of
Purity’s sacred expression
Deemed less adequate
Based on the participation
Of proximity alone?
By what standard
Does one compare
The exquisite beauty of
One incredible blossom
To another?
These are moments
Undefined by convention,
Whose very presence necessitates
Non-linear considerations.
Perhaps my capacity to love
Has expanded beyond
My inclination to remain
Inside the lines
Of traditional love and reason.
Though I find myself
At a loss to convey it
Using common language.
12/22/2011 Author's Note: Having considered the contemplations of non-traditional relationships, I am left with the impression that it looks much better on paper.

Posted by George Hoerner on 12/22/11 at 12:38 PM But words have always been the worst form of communication. We all have the baggage of growing in every word we use. The nuances of beauty and love are far finer than words can convey. That being said, you've done a wonderful job here. This is a great write lady. Try Braille! |

Ah, the quintessential poetic adventuress, capturing the essence of love so beautifully in this stanza. Kudos, Alison! |

Posted by Kathleen Wilson on 12/24/11 at 09:12 AM I like the philosophical tone, the self-referential "lines" and spaces... the "non-linear" and the scientific sense of this introspective poem. |
