hospital notes

by Mary Frances Spencer

bleep hiss drip
life saving fluids down the tubes

our father
hanging in there
awaiting another surgery
physical body battered
spiritual will humor
intact

intellectual worries effect
tangible symptoms

we must laugh symphonies
surrender control
empower healing energies
sing alive
love forever

Author's Note: Just spent all day with my Dad in the hospital. He has lots of issues, is awaiting surgery but in great spirits! Crazy how precious time can be when you realize how much we take for granted, how we really should appreciate the important people in our lives! MFS

That last stanza just blew me away. I've read in lots of places that sometime soon "time" will be removed from our experience so that the only relevant data is what we gather in the "now". Of course, I can't fathom that yet, but it's an interesting idea, and it makes me wonder how it would change your current perception of this reality that you're experiencing with your father. While I'm glad that you've shared it with us in verse, I'm sorry for the inspiration and will keep him in my nightly prayers. Sending you lots of love and energy for you, too....AM

Although time takes those we love there is one thing it can't take away and that is our memories until it takes us too. Hoping the best for your father and nice write lady.
