you're not doing her any favors with your
off-beat glances and side-step flirting
only when the other is not around
because how dare you actually give any part of
yourself to anyone other than your poems
because that's where you are, right? but no,
all your lines are stolen from every movie you've ever seen
that starred robert mitchum
and you write it off as if we should all know better
because you warned us your bite was bigger than
your dick
and you're right, it is,
but she didn't know this about you
unless you sent her pictures, too,
but i know how big everything is
and how small you pretend to be
because my tongue dried up long before
you decided the taste of korean food was better
when served cold
and i don't care if this is all one long in-
side joke because my insides have nothing
to hide
while yours are finding back alleys
around her heart
the only way you can with an addict
and you bastard, you use that against us all
because our weakness is your gain
and the alcohol wasn't enough to be a problem
but pretending like every line you write
is somehow new is
and i may be way off with some of this
but i am always spot on when it comes to
the characters you play
and robert mitchum is rolling over in his grave
right now because not even he would commend you
for this
and my hair may not be completely true
but just because i write about you doesn't mean
i give a damn
i just want her to be spared.

I wanted the same thing, once. But I don't know that it did any good. :-) I do like it when you write all edgy like this! There's just something oh-so-satisfying about it.
