Stars and Scars

by Amy Manning

constellation of scars like stars

i never believed in astrology

before you

the braille of your body

the ridges and curves that

meant you were a woman

was enough to make destiny

feel real

constellation of stars like scars

of ecstasy on the face of a wizened old man

geometric patterns of emotions

that would put Euclid to shame

She is her own canvass

and the blood pulsing in her veins

can be found on aisle 6,

next to the brushes

I love the image of the canvas, the blood pulsing through the veins.
