November 16 - "There are two scars"

by Jason Wardell

There are two scars at your inner elbow
that you try to hide, two deep gouges
that you turn toward yourself; I imagine
the cat you left with him when you left
him and the memories that swell there:

one for him
one for you.

Author's Note:

And when I have gone, I
imagine I will be lucky
to leave even memories.

I don't quite know what it is about this poem but I absolutely love it. It is very striking.
