Four Haiku on Romance

by Craig Allen

1.

His words make her smile
Behind her fan she blushes
A spring flower blooms

2.

The fan hides her blush
Eyes glance furtively at him
Somewhere a bird sings

3.

Gentle as the breeze
She speaks kind words so softly
Cherry blossoms fall

4.

Heart cleaves to beauty
In the stillness of the pond
Koi swims blissfully

Author's Note: In the last haiku the word koi holds a double meaning. In Japanese it means not only the varicolored fish, but can also mean love. The word koibito for example loosely translates into English as sweetheart.
