Trout Fishing by Craig AllenLight shimmers on the water
returning the scenes back upon
themselves of trees, clouds,
the occasional bird.
A flying insect buzzes around,
looking for some sort of sustenance,
whatever it is such creatures eat
to survive.
It comes near the glassy surface,
possibly transfixed by its own
reflection, caught in a moment
of insectile narcissism.
In an explosion that violates
the calmness of the morning
the trout leaps, snatching
its breakfast from the air.
