Inner beauty doesn't get you free drinks

by Jolie Jordan

You say to me (as if it was a bad thing)
“But love,
It rains all the time in Seattle.”

Surely you must know
I'm not afraid of a little water.

The sun slips up
knocking me over
this golden coast

“Don't we just have the perfect weather here everyday?”

Wake up,
you're in the middle of a drought.

But yes,
Perfect weather.
Every.
Day.

I'm hardly a nomad, or homesick in the least

But less trees
and more buildings
don't necessarily equal happiness.

I hate when people say "it never rains in Los Angeles". Um, yes, it does. But, yes, this piece. Yes to all of it.
