It is a shaking leaf
on a still tree
laying on the ground
chopped up
in a fire pit
covered in winter
knowing Spring
is inescapable.

It is a smile
on a child
patiently waiting
for candy
from a father
with rufilin.

It is a mother lioness
biting her cub
in the neck
to carry its body
to the den
where vultures
do not roam.
